Karen Leigh Wake, daughter of the late Marguerite Parkinson, was born on March 31,1949 in Washington D.C. She departed this life on September 12, 2021.
She worked at Kiplinger Washington Editors where she met her husband. They married in 1980 and had two daughters. Karen devoted the rest of her life to raising her children, becoming active with the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland. Later, she worked as a billing specialist for Drs. Schultz, Muscovich, Su, and Wallace. Karen was an avid reader and also enjoyed bowling, shopping, and the beach. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and most especially, her granddaughters.
Karen leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Martin Lee Wake; her daughters, Heather Anne Splawn, PhD (husband Brooks) and Megan Wake Cruz; her caring siblings, Robert Watson, Susan Johnson, Gregory Watson (predeceased), Clayton Watson, and Donna Parkinson; her cherished grandchildren Abigail and Eleanor Splawn; and a host of other relatives and friends.
