Joseph Paul Zang Jr, 33, of Halethorpe, Maryland, passed away May 14, 2023, in York, PA.
Joey loved baseball, fishing, singing, selfies and spending time with his family and friends. He would give his last dollar to someone in need even if he was in need himself. He was thoughtful, kind, generous and extremely honest. In elementary school he was given money to purchase presents from Santa’s Workshop. When he came home with no change, he explained he gave his remaining money to a child who had none to purchase gifts of their own. Being left-handed, Joey dreamed of pitching for his recreational baseball team. Once he accidentally hit a batter with a very wild pitch and he called time and ran to the batter to make sure he was okay. This pattern of kindness and caring continued throughout his short life. Joey had a special bond with his maternal grandmother, Linda, and was always referred to as her favorite grandchild. He was the only grandchild who still received an Easter basket every year, and she ensured his was always the largest. His loss has devastated the family and he will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.
He is survived by his mother Karen Connolly and stepfather Carl Gonnermann, father Joseph Zang and stepmother Leah Zang, biological brother, Patrick Zang, adopted brother Declan Zang and stepbrothers Brennan Gonnermann, Ethan Gonnermann and Ryan Fraley, grandmother Linda Connolly, grandparents Gary and Debbie Zanghi, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Connolly Jr, Aunt Dawn Jackson, and Uncle James Connolly III.
