John Scott St. Cyr, aged 58, passed away early on the morning of January 10, 2019. Surrounded by family, Scott died peacefully in his home in Severn, MD after a nearly three-year battle with brain cancer. Born January 26, 1960 in Ware, Massachusetts to George and Catherine St. Cyr; Scott is best remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle; a dedicated friend and neighbor; and an inspirational leader and patriot. Scott proudly served his country as a Soldier in the United States Army. Over his 32 year career, his assignments took him to locations across the United States, as well as South Korea, Germany, Kosovo, Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan and Belgium . He was regarded throughout his career for his exuberant energy, his sense of humor, and above all his sincere care and respect for the men and women who served with him. Nearly anyone who came in contact with him will also recall his enthusiastic support for New England professional sports. He was known to embody the phrase “Hooah,” and imparted on all who would listen the correct pronunciation of the word “Patriot” (pay-tree-OUGHT). Around the home he enjoyed gardening and going for walks with his wife, Bonnie. Scott also enjoyed visiting with many close friends and family in the area, and had a passion for cooking out and keeping the yard and vehicles in impeccable condition.
Scott will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Bonnie, and their sons, Chris and Tyler, his daughter-in-law, Karrah; as well as his mother, Cathy; two beloved grandsons, Logan and Ryan; his brother Kevin and his wife, Ellen; and sister Mary Ellen Casey and her husband, Mark.
